iPhone Home Button Not Working? – Here’s How To Fix It

Regardless of the model of iPhone you own, you can’t argue with the fact that they are remarkably innovative and incredibly useful pieces of technology. Still, even with as technologically advanced as today’s latest iPhone models are, eventually they will fail. Either the battery will stop charging or the screen will freeze, leaving you staring in disbelief at the last image you were scrolling across. One problem that seems to plague the iPhone is a malfunctioning or non-functioning ‘Home’ button.

The dreaded ‘Home’ button fail has affected millions of iPhones across a wide range of models. Here’s what happens: you place your thumb over the home button and your iPhone doesn’t unlock. You try again and again with no luck. You quickly become frustrated and try just about everything to unlock your iPhone. Still nothing. This is common problem is typically caused by the wear and tear of prolonged use and, fortunately, it can be solved rather easily.

With that in mind, we are going to take a look at some hacks and tips that could help you fix your iPhone Home button:

Tip 1: Calibration And Restore- the first step in fixing your Home button lagging is to calibrate and restore your iPhone. Before doing this, make sure that your iPhone has the latest iOS update and that your data is backed up to either iCloud or iTunes. Next, connect your phone to iTunes, search your device and click ‘restore’. Then, hold down the sleep button and slide to power off, then- use the same process to turn your device back on. Your iPhone will restart and the problem should be solved.

Tip 2: Clean The Home Button- if that didn’t solve the issue, cleaning the home button just might. To clean the home button, use a cotton bud with some isopropyl (alcohol) lightly splashed on it and swiftly circle it around the home button where the crack is. Wait a couple of minutes for it to dry before testing the home button.

Tip 3: Assistive Touch- another method that has helped many iPhone users whose Home buttons lagged or stopped working altogether is to turn on the AssistiveTouch feature. This will enable you to access your phone without using the Home button. To do this:

·      Access Settings on the home screen

·      Tap Accessibility

·      Go to AssistiveTouch

·      To use this, tap the AssistiveTouch button on the screen, then tap home
